Cancellations

As with all service providers, time is money. The further in advance you can notify us of a cancellation date, the better our opportunity to reschedule your cleaner to avoid a loss of revenues to them. Service cancelled 48 hours or less will be subject to a fee of 50% of the planned service.  Please notify the office directly (rather than your cleaner) at 415.239.1111 for cancellations.

Non-Solicitation

Spruce Up Agency incurs substantial costs to recruit and register qualified workers, including the development of referral contacts, advertising, background checks and overhead and administrative expenses.  If clients and the cleaners we refer were to establish a separate relationship excluding Spruce Up, we would be unable to survive as a business and unable to provide other deserving cleaners with a reliable source of revenues. Therefore we ask our clients to respect our role in the relationship and refrain from soliciting the cleaners referred to you by Spruce Up Agency.  Additionally, the housekeepers sign a contract when they register with the Agency and any outside work for a client to whom they have been referred by Spruce Up would constitute a breach of their contract and subject them to legal action.  Finally, by making a payment directly to a cleaner, you could create a vulnerability to issues of employment on your part. The domestic worker may be your employee or an independent contractor depending on the relationship you have with him or her. If you direct and control the manner and means by which the domestic worker performs his or her work, you may have employer responsibilities, including employment taxes and workers compensation, under state and federal law. For additional information, contact your local Employment Development Department and the Internal Revenue Service.

In short, we have created the structure of the relationship between Spruce Up Agency, our valued clients and our trusted cleaners to provide the best possible benefits, protection and safety to all concerned.
